STELLA has been the subject of scrupulous development focused on musicality, as well as in-depth study of its acoustic integration into its environment.
AMT TWEETER
The concept of AMT (Air Motion Transformer) tweeters was invented by the German physicist Dr Oskar Heil in the 1970s. AMT, or Air Motion Transformer, tweeter technology is an innovative tweeter design that stands out for its unique operation and exceptional performance.
AMT is based on a revolutionary principle. Unlike traditional dome tweeters, which move air pistonically, the AMT uses a pleated diaphragm, designed to ‘squeeze’ the air laterally. This design moves the air much more quickly, increasing the efficiency and precision with which sound waves are produced. The pleated diaphragm is fixed between magnetic fields, and as an audio signal passes through the diaphragm, the pleats contract and expand, compressing the air much more effectively than traditional loudspeakers. The main advantage is that the speed of air movement is much higher, resulting in smoother, more faithful and more dynamic sound reproduction.
WOOFER 14 CM
Our 14 cm driver is equipped with a NEXTEL-treated paper cone. The lightness and rigidity of the paper diaphragm, combined with NEXTEL's damping treatment, ensure accurate sound reproduction with low distortion. Warm, natural sound, with smooth midrange and detailed highs a fast dynamic response, ideal for reproducing transients and subtle nuances in music.
CROSSOVER
6DB/OCTAVE
The advantages of the 6 dB per octave acoustic crossover lie in its ability to offer smooth, fluid transitions between loudspeakers, increased sound coherence and reduced interference. Another advantage is that, because of its gentler slope, this type of crossover can help maintain sound coherence and avoid audible distortion caused by overly abrupt cuts infrequency response. To obtain the best low-frequency extension, we opted for a Bass-Reflex load, which has the effect of reducing distortion.
THE COMPONENTS OF THE STELLA FILTER
We use the best components available:
• Pure copper (Duelund) capacitors based on the revolutionary ‘Virtual Stack Foil’ principle, which involves winding thin metal foils in a precise and symmetrical arrangement, creating a capacitor that has minimal losses, distortion and microphony.
• An air-core Mundorf coil made from pure copper foil with a 12 AWG cross-section to retain the full potential of the associated loudspeaker with minimum insertion loss and extremely low distortion.
CABINETRY
We use a 20mm MDF for maximum rigidity taking into account the size of the cabinetry, this prevents sound distortion caused by vibrations from the cabinet itself. This setting attenuates the mid-treble frequencies to compensate for the effects of a room with too many reverberant surfaces (windows, bay windows, etc.).
We recommend that you carry out the running-in period (around 250 to 300 hours) with the connector inserted
POSITIONING YOUR STELLA SPEAKERS
The optimal height for your Stella is around 70cm. To optimize the listening experience, ensure that the speakers and your listening position form an almost equilateral triangle. This ensures an even distribution of sound and a precise stereo image. However, acoustic reflections from side walls can interfere with sound reproduction by bouncing first off, the speakers and then off the listener, resulting in distortion, harshness and inconsistency. To limit these undesirable effects, it is recommended that the speakers are angled slightly inwards, which reduces the propagation of lateral reflections while promoting a more direct sound.
Furthermore, the level of low frequencies depends not only on the distance of the speakers from the rear wall, but also on the listening position in the room. When the speakers are placed close to the wall, the bass is amplified, but this can lead to excessive resonance and alter the sound balance. By moving the speakers back, you generally get more controlled bass and a more balanced sound spectrum. It's also crucial to consider your own listening position, as bass will vary depending on where you are in the room due to acoustic phenomena such as eigenmodes and reverberation.
Good spatial calibration helps to avoid points of bass build-up or cancellation, ensuring a more homogenous and natural listening experience.
YOUR HIGH-FIDELITY SYSTEM
It is crucial that your installation is carried out by a meticulous professional who will carefully check the phase alignment of your devices. This specialist will ensure that each component is optimally installed, avoiding overloading and providing each device with an appropriate support, such as a sturdy and sufficiently heavy shelf.
This setup guarantees better stability, minimizes unwanted vibrations, and allows your system to fully realize its sonic potential.
A quality installation is essential for achieving accurate, faithful, and balanced audio reproduction.
