AMELIA has been meticulously developed with a focus on musicality, along with an in-depth study of its acoustic integration within its environment. The "Room Coupling" feature allows you to easily adjust your Amelia to the acoustics of your listening room. AMELIA is a 2-way system equipped with an AMT (Air Motion Transformer) tweeter for high frequencies and a 20 cm ALNICO woofer/midrange in a Bass Reflex configuration, controlled by a 6dB/octave crossover.
AMT TWEETER
The concept of AMT tweeters was invented by German physicist Dr. Oskar Heil in the 1970s. The AMT technology is an innovative tweeter design that stands out due to its unique operation and exceptional performance. The AMT operates on a revolutionary principle.
Unlike traditional dome tweeters, which move air in a piston-like manner, the AMT uses a pleated diaphragm designed to "squeeze" air laterally. This design allows the air to move much faster, thereby increasing both the efficiency and the accuracy with which sound waves are produced. The pleated diaphragm is suspended between magnetic fields, and when an audio signal passes through it, the pleats contract and expand, compressing the air far more effectively than traditional speakers. The main advantage is the significantly higher air velocity, resulting in smoother, more faithful, and dynamic sound reproduction.
20 CM ALNICO WOOFER
Our 20 cm woofer features a paper cone treated with an exclusive NEXTEL coating and an ALNICO motor, making it an exceptionally high-end choice for premium audio applications. The lightweight and rigid paper cone, combined with the NEXTEL damping treatment, ensures precise sound reproduction with minimal distortion. The ALNICO motor provides magnetic stability and enhanced linearity, guaranteeing dynamic response and excellent acoustic precision. Together, these features make this woofer a remarkable component, delivering warm and natural sound with smooth midrange and detailed highs, and a fast dynamic response ideal for reproducing transient details and subtle nuances in music.
6DB/OCTAVE CROSSOVER
The benefits of a 6dB/octave crossover lie in its ability to provide smooth transitions between drivers, improved sonic coherence, and reduced interference. Additionally, its gentle slope helps maintain sound consistency and avoid audible distortions caused by abrupt frequency cuts.To achieve the best bass extension, we opted for a Bass-Reflex design, which helps reduce distortion.
AMELIA CROSSOVER COMPONENTS
We use only the finest available components :
• Capacitors (Duelund): made of pure copper and based on the revolutionary "Virtual Stack Foil" principle, which involves winding thin metal foils in a precise and symmetrical arrangement, creating capacitors with minimal loss, distortion, and microphony.
• Inductors (Mundorf): made of air-core pure copper foil with a 12 AWG section to preserve the full potential of the associated driver while minimizing insertion loss and achieving extremely low distortion.
CABINETRY
We use a 30mm MDF- bitumen- MDF sandwich construction, combining medium-density fiberboard (MDF) for rigidity and bitumen for vibration absorption, reducing unwanted cabinet resonances. This construction minimizes sound distortion caused by the cabinet's own vibrations. The presence of bitumen in the sandwich helps dampen vibrations that might propagate outside the cabinet, limiting sound leakage and unwanted interference with the speaker's output.
ROOM COUPLING
To adapt your AMELIA to the challenging acoustics of certain rooms (e.g., glass windows, smooth surfaces), we offer the "Room Coupling" feature :
• Connector Inserted into the Technical Plate (see photo 1) :
This setting is our reference and is specially designed to suit most listening environments. It provides an optimal balance across different frequencies, ensuring accurate and coherent sound reproduction. This setting is ideal for spaces with standard acoustic characteristics, allowing for a balanced listening experience without the need for further adjustments.
• Connector Not Inserted into the Technical Plate (see photo 2): This setting is designed to attenuate mid and high frequencies to compensate for adverse effects in rooms with excessive reflective surfaces (such as windows, glass panels, or other smooth surfaces). By reducing the intensity of the midrange and high frequencies, this configuration helps correct excessive reflections that might make the sound too bright or harsh, resulting in a smoother and more balanced sound reproduction, even in acoustically challenging environments. We recommend completing the break-in period (approximately 250 to 300 hours) with the connector inserted.
SPEAKER PLACEMENT
To optimize your listening experience, ensure that the speakers and your listening position form an almost equilateral triangle. This arrangement ensures even sound distribution and precise stereo imaging. However, acoustic reflections from side walls can interfere with sound reproduction by first bouncing off the speakers and then the listener, leading to distortions, harshness, and inconsistencies. To minimize these unwanted effects, it is recommended to slightly angle the speakers inward, which reduces the propagation of sidewall reflections while promoting a more direct sound.
Additionally, the level of bass frequencies depends not only on the distance between the speakers and the rear wall but also on your listening position in the room. When placed close to the wall, the bass response is amplified, which can sometimes cause excessive resonance and disturb the sound balance. Moving the speakers further from the wall generally results in more controlled bass and a more balanced sound spectrum. It is also crucial to consider your own listening position, as bass frequencies can vary in intensity depending on the location in the room due to acoustic phenomena such as standing waves and reverberation. Proper spatial calibration helps avoid points where bass is either overly reinforced or canceled, ensuring a more uniform and natural listening experience.
ADJUSTING THE FEET
The decoupling feet of your Amelia speakers are height-adjustable to compensate for any irregularities in the floor. It is essential to adjust them precisely so that the speakers are positioned as close to the floor as possible while remaining perfectly level in all directions. This optimization not only ensures better stability but also provides optimal vibration isolation, enhancing the sound quality and accuracy of audio reproduction. Proper speaker positioning also helps minimize unwanted resonances, leading to a more immersive and accurate listening experience.
YOUR HIGH-FIDELITY SYSTEM
It is crucial that your installation is carried out by a meticulous professional who will carefully check the phase alignment of your devices. This specialist will ensure that each component is optimally installed, avoiding overloading and providing each device with an appropriate support, such as a sturdy and sufficiently heavy shelf. This setup guarantees better stability, minimizes unwanted vibrations, and allows your system to fully realize its sonic potential. A quality installation is essential for achieving accurate, faithful, and balanced audio reproduction.
